5 Favorite Romantic Restaurants

I’m a romantic and a big believer in celebrating all things love. I’m lucky to be married to my best friend, have children I love (most of the time) and friends I adore. Thinking about the loves of your life; be it the love you have for your friends, family, children, teacher, coach or significant other – there are many reasons to celebrate that love you have for so many. One of those ways to celebrate is Valentine’s Day and with the arrival of this day of love, let’s focus on my favorite romantic restaurants.

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse

Filet Mignon topped with Shrimp Scampi

If you haven’t had the chance to try this new-comer to Columbus, now is a great time. Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse is a timeless establishment that is perfect for a special occasion and was named 2018’s Best New Restaurant in Columbus by (614) Magazine and City Scene Magazine. Jeff Ruby’s is a great place to splurge where you can expect a phenomenal meal executed to perfection. The entire dining experience at Jeff Ruby’s is remarkable. Jeff Ruby’s is the restaurant you’re coming to for anniversary dates, birthday dinners, marriage proposals or to impress your in-laws, so take the bull by the horns and go all out with the menu. You’re going to love everything you try, and it’s a necessity for you or your date to indulge in a big, juicy, medium-rare steak. 89 E. Nationwide Blvd. Columbus, OH 43215 (614) 686-7800 Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse

The Whitney House

Clams

When I picture a classic romantic dinner, the scene looks something like a dimly lit restaurant with couples enjoying an intimate meal together and traditional American dishes being brought out from the kitchen. The Whitney House is just that, a cozy neighborhood restaurant set in downtown Worthington. The Whitney House serves made-from-scratch meals using locally sourced food inspired by Sunday dinner with the family. 666 High Street Worthington, OH 43085 (614) 396-7846 The Whitney House

MODA

Winter Pork Belly

MODA located in the bar of the Marriott on Olentangy but don’t let that throw you. The seating is intimate with the ambiance of a swanky NYC restaurant. Lounge in comfy chairs while sipping on signature cocktails and stay for dishes that indulge in quality ingredients serving some of the most sophisticated and flavorful plates in Columbus. Knowing Chef Corey is in charge, I recommend asking for the chef’s recommendations but make sure to look over their menu to see what pops out at first glance. A menu that is intended to be seasonal, so new items are continually popping up. 3100 Olentangy River Road Columbus OH 43202 (614) 447-9777 MODA

The Top

Step back in time with your visit to The Top Steakhouse where you’ll wonder if it’s still the 1950’s. So often we forget about the splendor and delicacy of the dishes served at the Top. Located in Bexley, the Top serves an upscale menu of steaks and seafood with classic options including Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, and Surf & Turf. If you’re looking for a “no fail” option, look no further than The Top. And the romance here doesn’t just start and end with a romantic setting and food, but they have nightly live music so sip on a martini Mad Men style and wow your date with this restaurant choice. 2891 East Main Street Columbus, OH 43209 (614) 231-8238 The Top Steakhouse

Alpine

Schaufele

If you’re a regular follower of SweetlyCBUS, you’ll find that I have professed my undying love for Alpine, a new on the scene restaurant. Set on the cobblestone streets in the heart of German Village, this quaint restaurant serves an upscale menu of German dishes sourced locally and internationally reassuring every menu item truly represents the flavors and culture of Germany. When you come, do not miss the alpine fondue, a house-made bread dumpling swimming in a creamy cheese that is so delicious you will want to lick the bowl clean. the 525 S 4th Street Columbus OH 43206 (614) 670-5852 Alpine

With Valentine’s Day only four days away it may difficult to score a reservation so consider booking your dinner reservation on a date other than the holiday. Of course, each of these spots is special whether you visit on Valentine’s Day or a random Tuesday night. Love and romance should be a celebration any day of the year, and these are all marvelous places to celebrate.

Have a favorite romantic restaurant that I didn’t mention? Leave it in the comments so I can add it to my list.

Some of my favorites are Refectory, Lindey’s, Barcelona, and G. Michael’s. But I’ve only been to Moda and The Whitney House on your list so I will have to try the other 3!
